2h agoDavidson (undisclosed) is competing for one of the Bills' final roster spots at tight end this offseason, Joe Buscaglia reports.
Davidson missed the entire 2023 campaign after the Bills placed him on injured reserve last June. The nature of the 25-year-old's injury was never disclosed, though it appears he's now past this issue considering that he's set to compete for a depth role this offseason. Davidson's primary competition should be Tre' McKitty and Quintin Morris.

2h agoVorhees (knee-ACL) was an active participant in the Ravens' rookie minicamp Friday through Monday, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
Vorhees missed his entire rookie season after suffering a torn ACL during the 2023 NFL combine. While he has yet to participate in any padded sessions, the seventh-round pick appears to be back to full health for this year's rookie minicamp. Baltimore coach John Harbaugh also said that Vorhees will compete for a starting job at guard ahead of the 2024 season.

3h agoThe Seahawks waived Cordeiro on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cordeiro's landed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent Friday. The 24-year-old out of San Jose State would have likely competed for a spot on the Seahawks' practice squad this offseason, but he'll now look to latch on elsewhere ahead of the 2024 campaign.

8h agoHines (knee) said Tuesday he expects to be available for the start of training camp, Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland reports.
Hines underwent surgery to repair his left ACL last August, then was released by the Bills in March after missing the entire 2023 season. Assuming he's indeed healthy by the start of training camp, Hines should compete for third-down snaps in the backfield and return work on special teams. With Nick Chubb working his way back from a serious knee injury of his own and no lock to be ready for Week 1, Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman are likely to operate as Cleveland's top backs to begin training camp.

9h agoMiller agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract with the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Miller reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh, after he logged a 11-161-2 receiving line across 17 appearances in 2023 in Atlanta, where Smith had served as the head coach. The wideout now gets a chance to compete with names like Quez Watkins, Denzel Mims, Marquez Callaway and Dez Fitzpatrick for a depth role with the Steelers this offseason.

10h agoSpector (back) is expected to compete with Dorian Williams for Buffalo's top backup role at linebacker, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Spector appears to be recovered from the back injury that ended his 2023 season early, and his spot on the 53-man roster heading into training camp appears secure due to his standing as a key special-teams contributor. Because of his draft capital as a 2023 third-round pick, Williams will likely be the favorite to win the top backup role this offseason, but Spector could have a solid chance to earn more opportunities if he can impress in workouts.

1h agoDevers is expected to hit in the four-hole for the foreseeable future, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
Devers slotted in at cleanup Wednesday and went 1-for-4 in a loss to Atlanta. He usually hits second in the order, but manager Alex Cora wants to separate the two lefties at the top -- Jarren Duran bats leadoff. Connor Wong hit second Wednesday against lefty Chris Sale, and Cora said he'll probably use Wilyer Abreu there against righties.

1h agoGonzalez started at first base and went 1-for-4 in Wednesday's 5-0 loss to Atlanta.
Gonzalez was activated off the injured list Wednesday and was in the starting lineup against left-hander Chris Sale. It was Gonzalez's first career start at first base. The versatile infielder is expected to see significant playing time against southpaws, and the Red Sox will see two lefties in the upcoming three-game set against Washington. Boston manager Alex Cora told Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe that Gonzalez swings the bat well and feels he can lengthen the lineup from the seventh spot in the order. Nos. 7-9 in Boston's lineup were batting just .209 entering Wednesday's game.

1h agoDe La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Dodgers.
De La Cruz produced the only run for the Marlins, tagging Gavin Stone for a solo shot in the fourth inning. The DH has gone yard in three of his last five games, bringing his season total to eight. With Wednesday's homer, De La Cruz's ISO sits at .205, up from .154 last season.

1h agoHernandez went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI during Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins.
Hernandez drove in all three of the Dodgers' runs Wednesday, plating Freddie Freeman on a first-inning single before re-taking the lead in the sixth on a two-run homer that also scored Freeman. Hernandez has gone yard four times in May, batting 8-for-25 (.320) with six runs scored during the month.

1h agoCastro went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI during Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.
The 27-year-old hit a solo shot off George Kirby in the second inning to break an 0-for-11 stretch at the plate, and Castro's RBI triple in the fourth gave the Twins some extra insurance, making it a 4-1 ballgame. Castro is now slashing .346/.370/.692 with three RBI and three stolen bases across his last seven games.

1h agoHudson earned the save Wednesday against Miami, striking out one over a perfect inning.
Hudson got the first chance at ninth-inning duties after Evan Phillips (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday and was perfect for his second save of the campaign. Until Phillips returns, the closing job should be Hudson's to lose, though he could have a shorter leash considering he's blown two of his other three save chances this season.

1m agoNesmith totaled six points (2-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one steal over 34 minutes during Wednesday's 130-121 loss to the Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Nesmith managed just six points in the loss, continuing his disappointing postseason. While he does provide the Pacers with a reliable defensive asset, his inability to score on a consistent basis remains a concern. The series will now head to Indiana where the Pacers will look to secure their first win.

3h agoAnunoby (left hamstring soreness) has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's Game 2 against the Pacers.
Anunoby went straight to the locker room and was grabbing at his left hamstring after a shot attempt late in the third period. He'll be unable to return to the contest, leaving minutes for the likes of Miles McBride, Alec Burks and Precious Achiuwa. Anunoby's status should be monitored closely leading up to Friday's Game 3 at Indiana.

Knicks' OG Anunoby: Heads to locker room
3h agoAnunoby limped to the locker room holding his left hamstring during Wednesday's Game 2 against Indiana, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
After being without Jalen Brunson for portions of the second half, the Knicks could be down Anunoby after he came up limping during the third quarter with what appears to be a left hamstring injury. Until we get an official update from the Knicks, Anunoby should be considered questionable to return. While he's out, Alec Burks, Miles McBride and Precious Achiuwa are the likely candidates for more minutes

3h agoBrunson (foot) has returned for the second half of Wednesday's Game 2 matchup with the Pacers, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
Brunson tweaked his foot during the first half and took an early trip to the locker room, but he started the second half for New York. However, the injury is clearly hampering him, as he's sporting a bit of a limp and he doesn't appear to be able to guard the opposing ball handler. It'll be interesting to see how he finishes the game.

Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Has sore right foot
4h agoBrunson is questionable to return to Wednesday's Game 2 against the Pacers with a sore right foot.
Brunson went to the locker room late in the first and stayed there to start the second. The Knicks have given an update to his status, listing him as questionable to return with soreness in his right foot. Miles McBride should man the point guard spot for as long as Brunson is sidelined.

4h agoBrunson stayed in the locker room following the first quarter for unspecified reasons, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
Brunson exited the contest late in the first period and went back to the locker room with an undisclosed injury and didn't return to the bench to start the second quarter. Until clarification is provided, Brunson should be considered questionable to return. Miles McBride should handle most of the point guard duties, while Shake Milton could see his first action of the playoffs.

Montour picked up a pair of assists in the second period before putting the finishing touches on the Florida victory with a shorthanded goal in the third, poking a feed from Aleksander Barkov past Linus Ullmark. The 30-year-old Montour now has two goals and six points in the playoffs after logging 33 points (eight goals, 25 assists) in 66 regular-season games.

Jeremy Swayman allowed three goals in the second period and a fourth tally 1:28 into the third before the Bruins turned to Ullmark in net. While Swayman would wind up with the loss, Ullmark didn't fair much better, allowing two more goals later in the frame. The 30-year-old Ullmark hadn't made an appearance since Game 2 of Boston's opening-round series against Toronto when he allowed three goals on 34 shots in a loss. However, the Bruins could turn back to a timeshare in net prior to Game 3 on Friday.

Reinhart set up Aleksander Barkov's go-ahead goal in the second period before adding assists on all three of Florida's third-period goals. The 28-year-old Reinhart hadn't recorded an assist in his prior seven postseason games, though he had three goals in the Panthers' opening-round series versus Tampa Bay. Reinhart posted 57 goals and 94 points, both career highs, in 82 regular-season contests.

34m agoSwayman was handed the loss Wednesday in Game 2 against the Panthers after allowing four goals on 23 shots before he was replaced by Linus Ullmark early in the third period.
Swayman blanked Florida in the first period before surrendering three goals in the second, including a Gustav Forsling tally with just two seconds left in the frame. Swayman would give up a fourth goal 1:28 into the third before he was replaced by Ullmark. It's the first time in eight postseason starts that Swayman's allowed more than two goals -- he still sports an impressive .942 save percentage with a 1.81 GAA. Swayman had earned the primary starting job in the postseason after splitting the workload with Ullmark for most of the year, though the Bruins may elect to make a change prior to Friday's Game 3.

45m agoBobrovsky stopped 14 of 15 shots in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Bruins in Game 2.
After surrendering the opening goal to Charlie Coyle in the opening period, Bobrovsky turned aside nine Bruins' shots over the final two frames while Florida rallied with six unanswered goals in the series-tying win. While it wasn't the busiest game for Bobrovsky, it was a nice bounce-back effort after he allowed four goals on 28 shots in Game 1. The 35-year-old netminder now sports an .893 save percentage in the playoffs after going 36-17-4 with a .915 save percentage and 2.37 GAA in the regular season.

Barkov powered the Panthers' offense in the convincing series-tying victory, putting Florida ahead 2-1 with a tally in the second period before adding another goal and two helpers in the third. The 28-year-old Barkov now has four goals and eight points in his last three games after going scoreless in his previous three contests. He's up to 10 points (four goals, six assists) through seven postseason contests.
