Ro Torrence 2005 CB
Seahawks' Ro Torrence: Lands with Seahawks
2h agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Kitan Oladapo GB SAF
Packers' Kitan Oladapo: Undergoes toe surgery
4h agoOladapo (toe) has undergone surgery and is not expected to be ready for OTAs, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Although he will miss OTAs, the team remains optimistic that Clark will be ready for training camp. He suffered a stress fracture doing drills on the turf at the NFL combine. The rookie was the third safety selected by the Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, following Xavier McKinney and Anthony Johnson. The Oregon State product will need to get his health back to bar in order to make an impression during training camp.

Le'Raven Clark PHI OT
Eagles' Le'Raven Clark: Placed on IR
4h agoThe Eagles placed Clark on injured reserve Friday.
It is unclear what Clark's injury is or how he sustained it, but he is a rare offseason addition to IR. This will allow the Eagles' some roster flexibility going forward. The journeyman failed to make a roster or practice squad during the 2023 season, but will look to bounce back once his health is back up to par.
-
Tyler Harrell 2005 WR
Jets' Tyler Harrell: Joins Jets
4h agoThe Jets signed Harrell on Friday, Ethan Greenberg and John Pullano of the team's official site report.
Harrell totaled four receptions for 45 yards as a sixth-year senior at Miami in 2023. The Jets are thin at wide receiver going into 2024, so he could be in the competition for the last few spots on their final depth chart.
-
Shi Smith KC WR
Shi Smith: Done in Kansas City
4h agoThe Chiefs waived Smith on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Smith did not appear in a regular-season game in 2023, and now Kansas City has decided to let him go ahead of 2024. He'll have to look for his next opportunity with a different squad.
-
Anthony Miller KC WR
Anthony Miller: Let go by Chiefs
4h agoKansas City released Miller on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Miller initially signed with the Chiefs back in January, but after using both free agency and the draft to add depth at wide receiver, Kansas City has now chosen to part ways with him. He hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2021.
-
Edouard Julien MIN 2B
Twins' Edouard Julien: Reached base three times
4m agoJulien went 1-for-2 with two RBI, two walks and a stolen base in Friday's win over Boston.
Julien was stuck in an 0-for-11 drought since his last hit April 27. The lefty slugger drove in a run with a third-inning single before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. He's now slashing .222/.342/.485 with 14 RBI and two stolen bases through 31 appearances.
-
Aaron Civale TB SP
Rays' Aaron Civale: Bailed out by offense
4m agoCivale escaped with a no-decision Friday in Tampa Bay's 10-8 win over the Mets, coughing up seven runs on six hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
New York tagged him for three runs in the second inning and four more in the fifth, but Civale still left the mound with the Rays ahead 9-7. The right-hander tossed 52 of 77 pitches for strikes as he allowed five or more runs for the third straight outing. The rough patch has sent his ratios soaring, and Civale will carry a 6.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 39:10 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the White Sox.
-
Brett Baty NYM 3B
Mets' Brett Baty: Goes yard twice in loss
8m agoBaty went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 10-8 loss to the Rays.
The young third baseman took Aaron Civale deep for a three-run blast in the second inning to open the scoring, and he then connected for a solo shot off Jason Adam in the ninth. It was the first multi-homer performance of Baty's big-league career, and it snapped a 27-game drought for the 24-year-old -- his only other long ball in 2024 came back on March 30. Despite the power outage, Baty has taken a big step forward in his development this year, and through 30 contests he's slashing .271/.340/.385, a massive improvement on last season's .212/.275/.323 line.
-
Chris Paddack MIN SP
Twins' Chris Paddack: Wins third straight
9m agoPaddack (3-1) yielded two hits and a walk over six shutout frames Friday, striking out six and earning a win over the Red Sox.
After working out of a two-on, no-out jam in the first inning, Paddack locked in and rolled through the Red Sox. He's now 3-1 with a three-game winning streak; during that span, he's posted a 2.00 ERA and an 18:2 K:BB over 18 frames. Paddack forced 12 whiffs, including six with his four-seam that averaged 94.3 mph. The 28-year-old righty has dropped his ERA to 4.78 through six starts. He's currently in line face the Mariners at home next week.
-
Jose Quintana NYM SP
Mets' Jose Quintana: Routed by Rays
13m agoQuintana (1-3) took the loss Friday as the Mets were downed 10-8 by Tampa Bay, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.
The veteran lefty managed to keep the ball in the park, but after a scoreless first inning, Quintana got pecked to death by a barrage of singles and doubles in his shortest outing of the season. The rough performance tacked more than a run onto his ERA, and Quintana will carry a 5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in St. Louis.
-
Aaron Nola PHI SP
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Pulled after four
16m agoNola did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out four.
Both of the Giants' runs came in the second inning on a Thairo Estrada double, though it certainly could've been a lot worse -- Nola needed 46 pitches to get through the frame, issuing four walks. The right-hander was ultimately pulled after throwing 89 pitches through four innings, as he failed to qualify for the win. Nola, who'd gone eight innings in each of his previous two starts, is 4-1 on the season with a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across seven outings (43.1 innings). Nola's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start.

Marcus Morris CLE PF
Cavaliers' Marcus Morris: Given starting nod, for some reason
10m agoMorris registered two points (1-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt), eight rebounds and two assists across 27 minutes during Friday's 103-96 loss to Orlando in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Morris played 27 minutes as the starting power forward in the Game 6 loss. Any time he spends on the floor feels like too much, highlighted by his lack of production. The Cavaliers will be hoping Jarrett Allen can overcome his rib injury and get back on the floor for what is a must-win game Sunday.
-
Tristan Thompson CLE C
Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Logs 12 minutes Friday
12m agoThompson posted two points (1-3 FG), two rebounds and one block across 12 minutes during Friday's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Thompson played as the primary backup behind Evan Mobley, something that Cleveland fans are hoping will not happen again. Other than providing additional size, Thompson has no place on an NBA court anymore. Jarrett Allen (ribs) will almost certainly be doing everything possible to make it back for Game 7.
-
Donovan Mitchell CLE SG
Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Plays lone hand in loss
14m agoMitchell finished Friday's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 50 points (22-36 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 3-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block in 42 minutes.
Mitchell outscored the rest of the Cavaliers roster, dropping 50 points in the loss. He scored all of the Cleveland points in the final quarter, a fact that may or may not have contributed to the end result. He is going to need more help on the offensive end should they hope to advance to the second round where the Celtics await.
-
Maxi Kleber DAL C
Mavericks' Maxi Kleber: Doubtful to return
29m agoKleber is doubtful to return to Friday's Game 6 against the Clippers due to a right shoulder sprain, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports.
Barring a quick, surprising turnaround, Kleber is unlikely to return to Friday's contest. Given the nature of the injury, a potential Game 7 on Sunday could be up in the air as well. In his absence, Derrick Jones could see some extra minutes providing depth at power forward.
-
Amir Coffey LAC SF
Clippers' Amir Coffey: Moves to bench
2h agoCoffey will come off the bench for Friday's Game 6 versus the Mavericks, ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk reports.
P.J. Tucker is getting the nod with the first unit, and it's not a huge surprise. Coffey has been struggling in this series, posting averages of 3.0 points on 28.6 percent shooting from the field.
-
P.J. Tucker LAC PF
Clippers' P.J. Tucker: Moves into starting five
2h agoTucker will move into the starting lineup for Friday's Game 6 versus Dallas, ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk reports.
The Clippers are opting for more of a defensive presence as they are facing an elimination game. Amir Coffey will head to the bench with this move.
-
Jake Oettinger DAL G
Stars' Jake Oettinger: Starting Game 6
2h agoOettinger will get the starting nod for Game 6 in Vegas on Friday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Oettinger has been dominant over the last three games, leading the Stars from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 lead. Over that span, he's coughed up just six goals on 95 shots. Through five appearances this series, Oetinger has posted a .911 save percentage and a 2.31 GAA.
-
Luke Schenn NSH D
Predators' Luke Schenn: Good to go Friday
5h agoSchenn (illness) will play Friday in Game 6 against Vancouver, Nick Kieser of 102.5 ESPN Nashville reports.
Schenn will return after missing Game 5 on Tuesday. The veteran blueliner has averaged 15:03 of ice time with 12 hits through four games this series. He'll skate in a second-pairing role Friday.
-
Cole Smith NSH LW
Predators' Cole Smith: Unavailable Friday
5h agoSmith (upper body) will not play Friday against the Canucks for Game 6.
Smith is considered day-to-day, indicating he could return Sunday for Game 7 if Nashville avoids elimination. The 28-year-old has 12 hits and no points in five games this series. Juuso Parssinen will dress in Smith's absence for Game 6.
-
Juuse Saros NSH G
Predators' Juuse Saros: Tending twine Friday
5h agoSaros will face the Canucks at home for Game 6 on Friday.
Saros turned away 19 of 20 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 Game 5 win to force Game 6. Through five games this series, he's allowed only 11 goals but it's come with a lackluster .879 save percentage. To avoid elimination, Saros will need to earn consecutive wins for the first time since April 4 and 7.
-
Michael DiPietro BOS G
Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Returns to minors
7h agoDiPietro was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal.
DiPietro was summoned Tuesday so the Bruins would have a third goaltender on their playoff roster. He might be recalled ahead of Game 7 on Saturday against Toronto to continue to serve that function. DiPietro hasn't played for Boston in the regular season or playoffs in 2023-24, but he did record a 2.51 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 30 regular-season outings with Providence.
-
Kaiden Guhle MON D
Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Good to play for Team Canada
7h agoGuhle, who missed the final seven games of the regular season due to a head injury, will join Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF World Championship.
Guhle finished the 2023-24 season with six goals, 22 points, 56 PIM, 116 hits and 178 blocks in 70 contests with Montreal. He served in a top-four capacity with the Canadiens, and the 22-year-old should act in a similar capacity for the franchise next campaign. In the meantime, Guhle will get in some extra high-level action during the international tournament before beginning his summer training.
