Bradlee Anae NYJ DEFalcons' Bradlee Anae: Inks deal with Atlanta
27m agoAnae (undisclosed) has agreed to terms on a contract with the Falcons, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
This news comes less than 24 hours after Anae's tryout in Atlanta. His 2023 season came to an end early, as the Jets placed him on injured reserve nearly one year ago with an undisclosed injury presumably suffered during offseason workouts. The defensive end's addition to Atlanta's roster indicates his health is back up to par, so he will now compete for a role in the trenches.

17h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

Cade Cavalli WAS SPNationals' Cade Cavalli: Builds up to 45 pitches
11m agoCavalli (elbow) threw 45 pitches over the equivalent of 2.2 innings in a live bullpen session Friday at the Nationals' spring training complex at West Palm Beach, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
The Nationals are being deliberate with the 25-year-old's recovery from March 2023 Tommy John surgery, but Cavalli is in the home stretch. The team hasn't indicated when he might begin a rehab assignment, but he could join the big-league rotation in late June or early July.

12m agoScherzer (back) revealed that he received an cortisone injection in his right thumb after undergoing additional tests Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The exam revealed that Scherzer's thumb issue is more nerve-related than skeletal, and the right-hander experienced significant improvement following the injection. Scherzer noted that he passed multiple strength tests that would have indicated a ligament issue, and his rehab plan has changed accordingly. The 39-year-old was on the field Friday playing catch for the first time since having his rehab program delayed due to issues with his right thumb and forearm.

16m agoGray threw 35 pitches Friday in a bullpen session at Fenway Park, all fastballs, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
The right-hander has been sidelined since April 4 due to a flexor strain in his elbow. Gray is slowly building up in bullpen sessions, and the Nationals haven't indicated yet when he might begin a rehab assignment, but he'll need to start ramping things up quickly if he's going to return to the big-league rotation before the end of May.

26m agoLindor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Atlanta.
The veteran shortstop took Charlie Morton deep in the seventh innings to get the Mets on the board, but they were already facing a 4-0 deficit at that point. Lindor has had a good start to May, batting .276 (8-for-29) through eight games with 10 RBI, but on the season he still carries a disappointing .212/.282/.404 slash line with seven homers, four steals, 21 RBI and 22 runs in 37 contests.

26m agoGoodrum went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Friday in a loss to the Royals.
Goodrum was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Thursday and made his Angels debut one day later, starting at third base and batting fifth in the order. Though he went hitless in his team debut, the utility man drew a walk in his first plate appearance and subsequently stole second base. Goodrum could get regular at-bats given his versatility and Los Angeles' drastically depleted infield. He's struggled to make contact during his career as a major-leaguer but has demonstrated good speed with 47 stolen bases on 61 attempts.

Christian Scott NYM PMets' Christian Scott: No hard innings cap this season
29m agoThe Mets don't have a hard innings limit in mind for Scott this season, despite the fact that he's never thrown more than 87.2 innings in a season dating back to his college days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
That doesn't mean the 24-year-old right-hander is headed for a 200-inning campaign, of course. Instead, the team will rely on biometric data to make sure Scott's mechanics and pitch quality aren't deteriorating as his workload builds up. "The other way didn't work," pitching coach Jeremy Hefner said this week, referencing the fact that injuries around the league weren't curtailed in the past by focusing on the volume of innings a pitcher threw relative to prior years. "So this is the information in front of us. You try to make the best decision possible with the information that you have." Scott could still be facing a shutdown later this summer if he shows signs of fatigue, but after posting a 3.20 ERA and 36:6 K:BB through 25.1 innings for Triple-A Syracuse before an impressive big-league debut May 4 against the Rays, the Mets will keep him in the rotation as long as he's producing strong results.

Tyrese Haliburton IND PGPacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Shines in Game 3 victory
5m agoHaliburton closed Friday's 111-106 win over New York in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with 35 points (14-26 FG, 6-16 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals across 38 minutes.
The Pacers needed Haliburton to carry them offensively, and while Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner delivered impressive stat lines, Haliburton was the engine that kept the team going. This 35-point effort was a playoff-high mark during the current season, and he seems to be catching fire after surpassing the 30-point plateau in each of his last two appearances.

9m agoSiakam logged 26 points (9-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 7-9 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one block across 31 minutes during Friday's 111-106 win over the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Siakam was remarkably efficient during Friday's win, and even though Tyrese Haliburton grabbed most of the headlines with his 35-point effort, Siakam's impact on offense can't be overlooked. The star big man could be in line for another solid showing in Game 4 of the series Sunday, as the Knicks are extremely depleted in the frontcourt while missing key defensive contributors such as Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and OG Anunoby (hamstring).

Myles Turner IND CPacers' Myles Turner: Double-doubles, swats three shots
11m agoTurner notched 21 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and three blocks over 35 minutes during Friday's 111-106 victory over the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Turner made his presence felt on both ends of the court Friday, tying his playoff-high mark in blocks while recording his first double-double of the current playoff run. The Pacers need Turner to continue making a two-way impact if they're going to turn things around in the series, especially considering how depleted the Knicks are in the frontcourt with Julius Randle (shoulder), Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and OG Anunoby (hamstring) all out for Game 4.

Josh Hart NY SFKnicks' Josh Hart: Pulls down 18 boards in Game 3 loss
18m agoHart posted 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 18 rebounds, four assists and two steals over 43 minutes during Friday's 111-106 loss to Indiana in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Hart didn't do much on the offensive end of the court and barely reached double-digit figures, but as has been the case all year long, he made his presence felt on the glass. The 18 rebounds represented his best output in the current playoff run in that category, and it's worth noting he's grabbed double-digit boards in all but two of his nine playoff appearances. He's averaging 17.1 points and 13.3 rebounds per game in the current postseason run.

Donte DiVincenzo NY SGKnicks' Donte DiVincenzo: Explodes for 35 points in loss
19m agoDiVincenzo ended Friday's 111-106 loss to the Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with 35 points (12-26 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 44 minutes.
Jalen Brunson wasn't at his best Friday, but DiVincenzo came through and carried the Knicks offensively with a career playoff-high scoring performance, although New York came up short and couldn't go up 3-0 in the series. DiVincenzo has been forced to embrace a bigger role on offense with several key contributors sidelined, but he's delivered so far, and he should be in line for another prominent role in Game 4 with names such as Julius Randle (shoulder), OG Anunoby (hamstring) and Bojan Bogdanovic (foot) all out.

Jalen Brunson NY PGKnicks' Jalen Brunson: Struggles with shot in Game 3
22m agoBrunson supplied 26 points (10-26 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-7 FT), six assists and one steal over 38 minutes during Friday's 111-106 loss to the Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brunson's final stat line looks decent overall, but the fact that he needed 26 shots to score 26 points can't be overlooked. The star guard has been one of the league's best players during the current playoff run, and the Knicks need him to be more efficient ahead of a pivotal Game 4 on Sunday. This was just a bump on the road for Brunson, however, as he's shooting 50 percent from the field while averaging 32.7 points per game so far in the series.

9h agoSoucy logged an assist and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Soucy has found more success in the second round with three helpers over two games after he put up just one assist in six contests during the first round versus the Predators. The 29-year-old blueliner isn't expected to put up a lot of offense while filling a bottom-four role on defense. Soucy has added 24 hits, seven blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-2 rating through eight playoff contests.

Quinn Hughes VAN DCanucks' Quinn Hughes: Helps out on power play
9h agoHughes logged a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Hughes is up to six helpers over eight playoff games, and three of those assists have come on the power play. He helped out on an Elias Pettersson tally in this contest. Hughes has added 11 shots on net, six blocked shots and a minus-1 rating while continuing to play massive minutes on the Canucks' top pairing.

Miller helped out on an Elias Pettersson power-play goal in the first period and a Nikita Zadorov even-strength tally in the second. This was Miller's third multi-point effort of the playoffs. He's up to two goals, seven helpers, 18 shots on net, 27 hits and a plus-5 rating through eight postseason appearances in his usual top-six role.

Boeser has gotten on the scoresheet in six of eight playoff games, earning five goals and three assists. He put the Canucks ahead 2-1 in the second period of Friday's game. The winger has added 18 shots on net and a plus-3 rating while skating in a top-six role this postseason.

Nikita Zadorov VAN DCanucks' Nikita Zadorov: One of each in loss
9h agoZadorov scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist and added three hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Zadorov helped out on a Brock Boeser goal early in the second period before scoring one of his own late in the frame. The 29-year-old Zadorov has back-to-back multi-point efforts and continues to stand out in the postseason. He's up to four goals, three assists, 14 shots on net, 28 hits, 11 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through eight playoff appearances.

Elias Pettersson VAN CCanucks' Elias Pettersson: Finds twine in loss
9h agoPettersson scored a power-play goal on two shots and added two hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Pettersson opened the scoring at 4:14 of the first period. The tally was his first since April 10, and he managed just four helpers and 13 shots on net over the 10 contests between goals. Pettersson is at four points, 13 shots on net and 16 hits through eight postseason appearances, which is not great production from a top-six center who posted 34 goals and 89 points in the regular season.
