Gerrid Doaks HOU RBGerrid Doaks: Cut by Houston
6h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

As a senior at Florida Atlantic, Burton hauled in 24 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Miami's wide receiver depth chart will be tough to crack for any undrafted rookie ahead of 2024.

7h agoThe Panthers waived Camp on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Camp did not see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at wide receiver in the draft, it opted to cut him. He'll now have to search for another chance with a different franchise.

7h agoCarolina waived Pierce on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Pierce agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Panthers back in January, but they decided to let him go after adding talent at tight end in the draft. He'll now look for another chance with a new team.

7h agoThe Panthers waived Brown (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown didn't see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at running back in the draft, it has now decided to cut him loose. He'll revert to injured reserve assuming he clears waivers.

Deon Jackson NYG RBGiants' Deon Jackson: Done with Giants
7h agoThe Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. If he clears waivers, he'll reverted to injured reserve.

Paul Blackburn OAK SPAthletics' Paul Blackburn: Hit hard Friday
3m agoBlackburn (3-2) took the loss Friday versus the Mariners, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over four-plus innings.
Blackburn cruised through the Mariners' lineup once, but couldn't do it a second time. He ran into trouble in the fourth inning and allowed three straight batters to reach to begin the fifth before Tyler Ferguson was brought on in relief. This is the second time in three outings Blackburn has been tagged for crooked numbers, and it's concerning this one came against an offense as pedestrian as Seattle. Blackburn has a 4.11 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB through 46 innings across eight starts this season. The right-hander is lined up to make his next start on the road in Houston.

Luis Campusano SD CPadres' Luis Campusano: Homer, double in win
7m agoCampusano went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.
Campusano opened the scoring with a third-inning solo shot. He added a double in the 10th, and pinch runner Tyler Wade scored one Luis Arraez's walk-off single. Campusano has reached base safely in his last six games, going 7-for-19 (.368) with two walks and six RBI in that span. The catcher is up to three homers, 10 doubles, 23 RBI, 17 runs scored and a .283/.323/.442 slash line through 35 contests this season in a starting role behind the plate.

Michael King SD SPPadres' Michael King: Strikes out 11 on Friday
11m agoKing allowed two hits and three walks while striking out 11 over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.
King put four runners on base but also racked up eight strikeouts over his first three innings. He ended up missing out on the win after Yuki Matsui allowed the game-tying run in the eighth inning. King was unsteady late in April, but he's opened May with 13 scoreless innings. The right-hander is at a 3.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB through 49 innings over nine appearances (eight starts) this season. King is penciled in for a more favorable home matchup versus the Rockies his next time out.

Clay Holmes NYY RPYankees' Clay Holmes: Picks up 12th save
13m agoHolmes earned the save in Friday's 2-0 win over the Rays, working around a hit and two walks while striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.
The Rays loaded the bases against Holmes in the ninth before the right-hander struck out Jonny DeLuca for the final out. Holmes has yet to allow an earned run this year, pitching to a 1.04 WHIP with 21:3 K:BB over 17.1 innings. He's up to 12 saves, tied with Kyle Finnegan and Robert Suarez for the league lead.

Tyler Glasnow LAD SPDodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Excellent in no-decision
15m agoGlasnow allowed a run on one hit and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday.
Glasnow was excellent, with the one hit against him being a Luis Campusano solo home run in the third inning. This was the fourth time this season Glasnow has struck out 10 or more batters, and it was also his fourth straight quality start. The right-hander trimmed his ERA to 2.53 with a 0.86 WHIP and a 73:15 K:BB over 57 innings across nine starts. Glasnow is dialed in, but his workload will be something to keep an eye on -- he's never pitched more than 120 innings in a season, often due to injuries. He's projected to make his next start in San Francisco.

Clarke Schmidt NYY SPYankees' Clarke Schmidt: Blanks Tampa in fourth win
19m agoSchmidt (4-1) earned the win Friday over the Rays, allowing five hits and two walks over 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.
It's the first quality start of the season for Schmidt (he hadn't pitched more than 5.2 innings yet this year) though he's now won three of his last four outings. The 28-year-old Schmidt lowered his ERA to 2.95 with a 1.27 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB across eight starts (42.2 innings) this season. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Twins in his next turn in the rotation.

Michael Porter Jr. DEN SFNuggets' Michael Porter: Strong from deep in 20-point Game 3
27m agoPorter ended with 21 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 30 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter provided a nice lift offensively for Denver in its first win of the conference semifinals, leading all Nuggets in threes made while ending as one of three players with 20 or more points in Game 3. Porter had a bounce-back performance after failing to reach double figures in scoring in Game 2, now posting 20 or more points in two of the three games against Minnesota.

Nikola Jokic DEN CNuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nears triple-double in Game 3 win
28m agoJokic notched 24 points (10-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 14 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic did a little bit of everything for Denver in a much-needed Game 3 win on the road, leading all players in Friday's contest in rebounds, assists and blocks while adding a team-high-tying trio of steals and concluding as one of three Nuggets with 20 or more points. Jokic, who ended one dime shy of a triple-double, tallied his second straight double-double while posting at least 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in every game of the conference semifinals thus far. Jokic looked much more comfortable in Game 3 than we saw earlier in the series, which could be great news for Denver as it tries to even the series.

Jamal Murray DEN PGNuggets' Jamal Murray: Responds with strong Game 3
28m agoMurray finished with 24 points (11-21 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five assist, four rebounds and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray came out of the gates with a sense of urgency and a prove-it mentality in Friday's much-needed with for Denver, posting a team-high-tying scoring total and leading all players in the contest in shots made while tallying a team-high-tying pair of steals in a balanced outing. Murray, who notched his only single-digit game of the postseason in Game 2, bounced back with a big performance for the Nuggets in order to get back into the series against the Timberwolves. Murray has surpassed the 20-point mark in six of his eight playoff contests thus far.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
30m agoTowns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time of the postseason, having scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns will have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

Anthony Edwards MIN SGTimberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Nears 20 points as top scorer
30m agoEdwards recorded 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), six rebounds, five assists and one block over 37 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards did all he could to help Minnesota climb back into Friday's contest, leading all Timberwolves players in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and handful of assists in a balanced outing. Edwards tallied his lowest point total of the conference semifinals, taking a bit of a step back after a pair of impressive performances in Denver earlier in the series. Look for Edwards to step up and lead Minnesota in Game 4 as it attempts to make a statement at home and take a 3-1 lead over Denver.

Rudy Gobert MIN CTimberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Quiet outing return in Game 3
30m agoGobert tallied six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 27 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gobert returned in Game 3 after missing the previous contest due to the birth of his child, putting forth a quiet outing in Minnesota's first loss of the postseason. Gobert failed to reach double figures in both points and rebounds, not tallying 10 or more boards for the third time of the postseason while not crossing the double-digit scoring mark for the third time. In order for Minnesota to bounce back in Sunday's Game 4, Gobert will have to put together a much stronger showing than he did Friday in Minneapolis.

David Pastrnak BOS RWBruins' David Pastrnak: Secondary assist in loss
3m agoPastrnak had an assist in Friday's 6-2 home loss to the Panthers.
Pastrnak helped out on a Jake DeBrusk goal with a secondary assist in the Game 3 loss. The superstar winger also added three shots on goal, two hits and a plus-1 rating in 21:09 of ice time. More importantly, it was nice to see Pastrnak feeling no ill-effects after fighting Florida's Matthew Tkachuk in Game 2. Pastrnak and the Bruins will look to even up the series at two apiece Sunday in Boston.

Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Primary helper in loss
34m agoLohrei registered an even-strength assist in Friday's 6-2 loss to Florida.
Lohrei had the primary helper on a Jake DeBrusk goal in the third period that cut Florida's lead to two. The 23-year-old Louisiana native also added one shot, one hit and one block in 20:13 of ice time. The young blueliner is making a name for himself this postseason, as Lohrei is up to one goal and three assists in eight games to go along with a plus-2 rating. Lohrei's next chance to help Boston's offensive production will come Sunday in Game 4.

Jake DeBrusk BOS LWBruins' Jake DeBrusk: Goal and assist in loss
1h agoDeBrusk scored a goal and added a helper in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers.
DeBrusk helped out on a Jakub Lauko tally before adding a goal of his own in the third period. DeBrusk's contributions helped give the Bruins and their fans life by cutting the lead to two, but it wasn't enough to overcome the four-goal deficit against Florida. The 27-year-old also added one shot on net, one block and six hits in 17:50 of ice time. DeBrusk is up to four goals and two assists in nine games so far this postseason.

Sam Bennett FLA CPanthers' Sam Bennett: Assist in return to lineup
1h agoBennett (upper body) produced a primary assist in his return to the lineup in Friday's 6-2 win over Boston.
Bennett's return to the lineup paid immediate dividends for the Panthers, as the second-line center registered an assist on Vladimir Tarasenko's goal late in the second period. The 27-year-old also threw 7 hits in 12:43 of ice time. Bennett's ice time will presumably increase in the coming games as he readjusts to the pace of playoff hockey. Overall this postseason, Bennett has one goal and two assists in three games.

Evan Rodrigues FLA CPanthers' Evan Rodrigues: Two goals in win
1h agoRodrigues potted two goals in Friday's 6-2 road victory over Boston.
Rodrigues opened the scoring in Game 3 with an even-strength goal that came right after a Florida power-play had ended. He also ended the scoring with a goal in the final minute of the third period. Rodrigues is the perfect example of a depth player that Florida will need to keep contributing if they want to go on a deep Stanley Cup run. Rodrigues has three goals and an assist in eight games so far this postseason.

Brandon Montour FLA DPanthers' Brandon Montour: Two more points in win
2h agoMontour registered a goal and an assist in Friday's 6-2 road victory over the Bruins.
Montour is on a heater right now, as he's racked up five points (two goals) over the last two games. He scored on the power-play early in the third period to put the Panthers up by four, before adding an assist on Sam Reinhart's empty-net tally. Overall this postseason, Montour has three goals and five assists in eight games. The pending unrestricted free agent will look to keep it rolling in Game 4.
