Panthers' Ilm Manning: Reverts to injured reserve
11h agoManning (undisclosed) cleared waivers and reverted to the Panthers' injured reserve list Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The severity of Manning's injury is not yet known. The offensive guard will need to reach an injury settlement with the team to potentially play in 2024.

Phillip Dorsett DEN WR
Broncos' Phillip Dorsett: Back with Denver
12h agoDorsett signed with the Broncos on Monday after being released Friday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
The wide receiver spent 2023 with Denver's practice squad, playing in two games and not catching any of his three targets. The 2015 first-round pick has just 21 receptions over the past four seasons with four different teams. Now he'll get a chance to stick with Denver on a depth chart that includes 12 wide receivers.

Jacques Patrick NYJ RB
Jacques Patrick: Let go by Jets
12h agoPatrick was waived by the Jets on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The running back signed with New York's practice squad in December and inked a reserve/future contract in January. Patrick last appeared in an NFL game in 2021 with the 49ers.
-
John Penisini NO DT
John Penisini: Waived by New Orleans
12h agoPenisini was waived by the Saints on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The defensive tackle played in 32 games with the Lions between the 2020 and 2021 seasons but has not appeared in an NFL game since. Penisini was waived from Carolina's reserve/PUP list last August.
-
T.J. Smith MIN DT
Panthers' T.J. Smith: Agrees to terms with Carolina
14h agoThe Panthers signed Smith on Monday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Smith bounced back and forth between the Vikings' practice squad and active roster over the course of his three-year NFL career, but he's now found a new home in Carolina. The 27-year-old defensive lineman has appeared in four games during his time in the league, recording 11 total tackles while playing 108 total snaps (86 defensive, 22 on special teams). He's expected to compete for a backup role in the Panthers defense as the offseason advances.

Jared Goff DET QB
Lions' Jared Goff: Lands four-year, $212M extension
14h agoThe Lions signed Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The deal contains $170 million guaranteed, and Goff is now the highest-paid player in Lions franchise history. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick of the Rams, Goff was acquired from Los Angeles in the Matthew Stafford haul from the 2021 offseason and has resurrected his career under Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. In three seasons with Detroit, Goff has completed 66.5 percent of his passes, up from 63.4 percent with Los Angeles, and has thrown for 12,258 yards with a splendid 78:27 TD:INT. He's lowered his turnover rate with Detroit and just helped lead the team to the NFC Championship Game last season. Goff is still just 29 years old and is locked in with the Lions for at least the next few seasons.

Mike Ford CIN DH
Reds' Mike Ford: Delivers two in loss
15m agoFord went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in Monday's 6-5 loss to Arizona.
Ford made a significant contribution for a second consecutive game. After a game-tying, eighth-inning home run in Sunday's loss to the Giants, Ford hit a game-tying single in the sixth then a go-ahead triple in the eighth Monday. Cincinnati's offense has struggled, so if Ford's bat gets going, he could land a semi-regular role until Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) returns.
-
Jeimer Candelario CIN 3B
Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Stays hot in loss
25m agoCandelario went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Candelario, who has multiple hits in three of the last six games, is heating up. He's 9-for-24 during that stretch with two doubles, a home run and six RBI. The resurrected bat prompted a move up the order to fifth, after Candelario spent time in the lower third since mid-April.
-
Kevin Ginkel ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Two straight blown saves
37m agoGinkel allowed two runs on two hits and a walk over one inning, picking up a blown save in Monday's 6-5 win over Cincinnati.
Ginkel failed to hold an eighth-inning lead for a second consecutive appearance. He's allowed runs in three of the last four outings, all since he slid back from closer to a setup role.
-
Kevin Newman ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Kevin Newman: Plays hero Monday
45m agoNewman went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in Monday's 6-5 win over the Reds.
Newman ended the night with a walk-off, two-run single off Cincinnati closer Alexis Diaz, who had hit a batter and walked two before the shortstop played hero. It was the third consecutive game with multiple hits for Newman, who is 8-for-12 with four doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. He's added 74 points to his batting average -- from .179 to .253 -- due to this outburst and is more in line with his career mark of .259. He had become the team's primary shortstop, because his glove was more reliable than rookie Blaze Alexander. Newman should continue to serve that role until Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is ready, which is expected at some point in June.
-
Dairon Blanco KC LF
Royals' Dairon Blanco: Records 11th steal
4h agoBlanco went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Mariners.
Blanco was 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts in the game. The outfielder began the year in a bench role, but he's hit his way into starting four of the last five games with time at all three outfield positions. He's gone 7-for-17 (.412) since May 6. Blanco doesn't have much of a track record in a starting role, but he's slashed .293/.356/.439 with a home run, two RBI, 14 runs scored and 11 steals through 45 plate appearances this season as a speed-and-defense option. Blanco's increased playing time has primarily come at the expense of MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel.
-
Kyle Leahy STL RP
Cardinals' Kyle Leahy: Picks up win Monday
4h agoLeahy (1-1) struck out three over 2.2 perfect innings to earn the win Monday over Angels.
Starter Matthew Liberatore labored through 3.1 innings, while Leahy was sharp and kept the Cardinals' deficit at four runs. The team's offense made a rare explosion with eight runs in the seventh inning, and they held the lead the rest of the way to get Leahy his first big-league win. The right-hander has a 5.59 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB over 9.2 innings through five appearances as a long reliever this season. With Liberatore still not stretched out as a starter, Leahy could continue to piggyback him while Steven Matz (back) is on the injured list.
-
Max Strus CLE SG
Cavaliers' Max Strus: Leads from deep in balanced Game 4
9h agoStrus provided 15 points (5-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 43 minutes before fouling out of Monday's 109-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Strus led all players in Monday's contest in threes made while ending as one of four Cavaliers with double-digit scoring and handing out a team-high-tying assist total along with a pair of steals. Strus, who also hauled in seven boards, posted a new playoff high in threes made and notched his second game with 10 or more points in the series against the Celtics.
-
Darius Garland CLE PG
Cavaliers' Darius Garland: Leads offensively in Game 4 loss
9h agoGarland accumulated 30 points (12-27 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 40 minutes during Monday's 109-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Garland led all Cavaliers in scoring while connecting on a quartet of threes, handing out a team-high-tying assist total and adding a pair of steals in a well-rounded Game 4 against the Celtics. Garland, playing with more weight on his shoulders to lead the short-handed Cavaliers offensively, posted his highest scoring total of the postseason thus far. He has recorded at least 14 points and four assists in all four games against Boston in the semifinals.
-
Caris LeVert CLE SG
Cavaliers' Caris LeVert: Nears 20 points in Game 4 start
9h agoLeVert ended with 19 points (9-18 FG, 1-8 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 39 minutes during Monday's 109-102 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert got the starting nod with the Cavaliers playing without Jarrett Allen (ribs) and Donovan Mitchell (calf), providing a lift offensively while ending one point shy of the 20-point mark in a losing effort. LeVert has been a key player coming off the bench for Cleveland this series, posting 15 or more points in three of the four games against Boston. If Mitchell is able to return for Game 5, look for LeVert to return to the second unit to be a spark off the bench. If Mitchell does miss Game 5, LeVert will be called upon again to step into the starting lineup.
-
Jrue Holiday BOS PG
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Dominates from deep in Game 4
9h agoHoliday produced 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals over 43 minutes during Monday's 109-102 victory over the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Holiday led all Celtics in Game 4 in threes made while ending as one of three players with 15 or more points to go along with a team-high-tying handful of assists and a team-best trio of steals in a winning effort. Holiday connected on at least four threes for the first time this postseason, and he has now tallied at least 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists in two straight contests for Boston.
-
Jaylen Brown BOS SF
Celtics' Jaylen Brown: Shines offensively in Game 4 win
9h agoBrown amassed 27 points (9-15 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Monday's 109-102 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown was part of a dominant pairing alongside Jayson Tatum, leading Boston offensively en route to helping the team take a 3-1 series advantage. Brown connected on a pair of threes while ending as one of two players with 25 or more points in the victory, also finishing two rebounds shy of a double-double. Brown has turned his game up a notch over the last two games against Cleveland, posting at least 25 points and eight boards in two straight outings.
-
Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Does it all in Game 4 victory
9h agoTatum had 33 points (11-25 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 9-9 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 44 minutes during Monday's 109-102 win over the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum did a little bit of everything to lead Boston to taking a commanding 3-1 series lead, pacing all players in Monday's contest in scoring and rebounds while shooting a perfect mark from the free-throw line and adding a handful of assists along with a pair of steals. Tatum has scored 25 or more points in three of his four games against Cleveland, turning things up a notch over the last two contests while posting at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five dimes in each game.
-
Jonathan Drouin COL LW
Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Earns helper in return
4h agoDrouin notched an assist and went minus-2 in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Stars in Game 4.
Drouin made his postseason debut Monday and helped out on Casey Mittelstadt's second-period tally. The 29-year-old Drouin added one shot on net and saw 19:12 of ice time, including 2:27 on the power play. With Valeri Nichushkin (suspension) done for the playoffs, Drouin could get shifted up to the top line for Wednesday's Game 5, which will see the Avalanche attempt to stave off elimination.
-
Casey Mittelstadt COL C
Avalanche's Casey Mittelstadt: Tallies lone goal in loss
4h agoMittelstadt scored a goal in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Stars in Game 4.
Mittelstadt has two points over four games in the second round, with his tally Monday being all the Avalanche could muster against Jake Oettinger in the contest. The 25-year-old Mittelstadt is at eight points, 20 shots on net and 12 hits through nine playoff outings. The Avalanche's offense has been lacking both in volume and depth in this series, so Mittelstadt is far from the only player that needs to find another level with the team's season on the line going forward.
-
Alexandar Georgiev COL G
Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Surrenders four goals in loss
4h agoGeorgiev gave up four goals on 33 shots in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Stars in Game 4. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Georgiev kept the Avalanche in the game for longer than they should have been, as the Stars put him under siege in the first period but came away with just one goal. They added two more in the second, and the Avalanche's offense once again failed to give Georgiev much to work with. He's allowed 13 goals over four games in the second round, going 1-3 with an .879 save percentage. Head coach Jared Bednar is likely to ride with Georgiev, who will be tasked with keeping the Avalanche's season going in elimination games, starting with Wednesday's Game 5.
-
Logan Stankoven DAL C
Stars' Logan Stankoven: Adds helper Monday
4h agoStankoven logged an assist, two hits and two PIM in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4.
Stankoven set up Miro Heiskanen's second-period tally, which gave the Stars a 3-0 lead. With three points over his last two games, Stankoven appears to be finding a rhythm in the playoffs. He's at five points, 22 shots on net, 17 hits and a plus-4 rating through 11 postseason appearances.
-
Mason Marchment DAL LW
Stars' Mason Marchment: Generates helper
4h agoMarchment logged an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 5.
Marchment has a helper in two of the three games he's played since returning from an undisclosed injury. The winger is up to three points, seven shots on net, 18 hits and eight PIM through five playoff outings. Marchment is likely to continue playing in a middle-six role with power-play time.
-
Tyler Seguin DAL C
Stars' Tyler Seguin: Registers helper in win
4h agoSeguin logged an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4.
Seguin has three goals and an assist during his three-game point streak, surpassing three helpers he had in the first round versus Vegas. The 32-year-old forward could be called on for a larger role if Roope Hintz (upper body) can't suit up in Wednesday's Game 5. Seguin has seven points, 35 shots, 17 hits and a plus-8 rating over 11 playoff appearances.
