Lucas Patrick CHI OG
Saints' Lucas Patrick: Headed to Big Easy
18h agoThe Saints signed Patrick (calf) to a one-year contract Sunday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Patrick appeared in 23 games with 20 starts over the past two seasons with Chicago. The 30-year-old was the team's starting center for almost the entire 2023 campaign, but he ended the year on IR due to an unspecified calf injury. While the nature of this issue was never revealed, Patrick now appears to be healthy again. He should now provide depth along the interior of New Orleans' offensive line.

Ramon Jefferson 2005 RB
Buccaneers' Ramon Jefferson: Inks deal with Tampa
19h agoThe Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

Kaden Davis ARI WR
Lions' Kaden Davis: Joining Detroit
22h agoThe Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a WR corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Olumuyiwa Fashanu NYJ OT
Jets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
23h agoFashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

Bud Dupree ATL OLB
Chargers' Bud Dupree: Set to join Chargers
2d agoDupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dupree reportedly met with both the Falcons and Steelers recently in addition to the Chargers, and it appears that he'll end up with Los Angeles. The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

AJ Parker CAR CB
AJ Parker: Waived with non-football injury
2d agoThe Panthers waived Parker with an undisclosed non-football injury Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The details and severity of Parker's injury are unknown, other than the fact that it did not occur on the football field. The cornerback will now be available to be claimed off waivers should any other teams show interest.

Sam Haggerty SEA LF
Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Quiet since season debut
6m agoHaggerty went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a run in a win over the Athletics on Sunday, his first hit since making his season debut May 1.
Haggerty had gone hitless in his first eight plate appearances of the season after a delayed debut due to a non-baseball-related medical issue. The veteran utility man has now broken through with his first knock of the season and also has a walk and a stolen base on his resume, but he'll likely only continue seeing sporadic playing time while good health prevails across the Mariners' roster.

Jesse Winker WAS LF
Nationals' Jesse Winker: Exits with back spasms
8m agoWinker left Sunday's loss to the Red Sox in the sixth inning due to back spasms, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
The 30-year-old tried to play through the issue, but Winker's back flared up after he made a diving attempt to catch a sinking liner in the bottom of the fifth inning. Trey Lipscomb pinch hit for him in the sixth, with Ildemaro Vargas shifting from third base to left field defensively. Winker is slashing .235/.350/.386 through 38 games on the season with four homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs and a career-high four steals, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he got a day off Monday when the Nationals head to Chicago to face the White Sox and right-hander Chris Flexen.

DJ Stewart NYM DH
Mets' DJ Stewart: On base three times Sunday
16m agoStewart went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's win over Atlanta.
Getting the start in left field with Brandon Nimmo nursing an intercostal issue, Stewart did a credible job as the leadoff hitter. Nimmo wound up pinch hitting a slugging a walk-off homer in the ninth inning however, so the assignment for Stewart was purely a short-term one. The 30-year-old has played well enough to keep a bench job even after J.D. Martinez joined the big-league roster, and Stewart sports a .206/.389/.426 slash line on the season with four homers and 16 RBI in 90 plate appearances.

Nate Savino ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Nate Savino: Rehabbing in ACL
22m agoSavino (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate May 4 and has struck out six over 4.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit and three walks through his first three appearances.
Savino remains on Single-A Visalia's 7-day injured list and is expected to join the Diamondbacks' California League affiliate once he completes his assignment in the ACL. Since being drafted in 2022, the 22-year-old lefty has yet to make his debut in full-season ball after undergoing surgery in 2023.
-
Edwin Diaz NYM RP
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Grabs win after Mets walk off
31m agoDiaz (1-1) secured the win over Alanta on Sunday, tossing a perfect ninth frame while striking out a batter.
Diaz entered to begin the ninth with the Mets trailing 3-2 and wound up with the win thanks to a Brandon Nimmo two-run walk off homer in the bottom of the inning. He's bounced back with a save and a win in his last two outings after allowing three runs in his previous four innings. He's also struck out at least one batter in all 15 of his appearances thus far. For the year, Diaz owns a 2.30 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB in 15.2 innings.
-
Bryan Reynolds PIT LF
Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Struggling in May
32m agoReynolds went 0-for-5 with a strikeout Sunday against the Cubs.
Reynolds has struggled in his last 10 games, collecting only seven hits across 38 at-bats with no home runs and no RBI. He remains locked in as the No. 2 hitter in the Pirates' lineup and has a .267 xBA and .361 xWOBA, so a turnaround in production should be in order.
-
Kendall Brown IND SF
Pacers' Kendall Brown: Enters rotation in blowout win
7h agoBrown totaled zero points (0-2 FG), two rebounds and one block in 10 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 victory over the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown and several fellow second-stringers saw an uptick in playing time Sunday. The Pacers took control early and never relinquished, leveling the series at 2-2. Game 5 is in New York on Tuesday, where both teams will look to gain the upper hand.
-
Jarace Walker IND PF
Pacers' Jarace Walker: Slots into rotation
8h agoWalker provided five points (2-4 FG, 1-2 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal over nine minutes during Sunday's 121-89 victory over the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Walker played nine minutes off the bench, joining his fellow benchwarmers as the Pacers blew out the Knicks. While it was nice to see the rookie on the floor, there was possibly a case to be made for him playing even more minutes given the nature of the scoreline.
-
Isaiah Jackson IND C
Pacers' Isaiah Jackson: Increased role Sunday
8h agoJackson registered 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 win over New York in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Jackson played a substantial role Sunday as the Pacers easily accounted for the Knicks, leveling the series at 2-2. This was an ugly loss for New York, while Indiana fans had the time of their lives at the Knicks' expense. Given the grit and grind attitude in New York, expect to see a much-improved performance when the series continues Tuesday.
-
DaQuan Jeffries NY SG
Knicks' DaQuan Jeffries: Rare appearance Sunday
8h agoJeffries had five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal across 13 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Jeffries made a rare appearance Sunday as the Knicks went deep into their rotation. The Pacers dominated from start to finish, meaning even Tom Thibodeau couldn't justify playing his starters big minutes. Obviously, this is not something fans should expect to see very often during the postseason.
-
Shake Milton NY SG
Knicks' Shake Milton: Cracks rotation in blowout loss
8h agoMilton supplied three points (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound and one assist across 15 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Milton saw his first minutes of the postseason, playing the entire fourth quarter of what was an ugly loss. The series is now tied at 2-2, but the Pacers have all the momentum heading back to New York. Assuming Game 5 on Tuesday is tighter, don't expect to see Milton in the rotation.
-
Alec Burks NY PG
Knicks' Alec Burks: Drops team-high 20 points
8h agoBurks contributed 20 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
With the Pacers jumping out to a huge lead and Jalen Brunson looking less than 100 percent, Burks saw extended playing time and made the most of his opportunity. We know Burks can put up points in a hurry when afforded meaningful playing time. However, with that said, New York fans will be hoping this is not the case in Game 5 on Tuesday, given his outbursts tend to come when the Knicks are on the wrong end of the blowout.
-
Frederik Andersen CAR G
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: First goalie off Monday
1m agoAndersen was the first goalie to leave the ice Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports, indicating he'll be in goal on the road for Game 5 against the Rangers.
Andersen was almost certainly going to get the start after helping the team stave off elimination by stopping 22 of 25 shots in Game 4. Still, the veteran netminder is sporting a lackluster .874 save percentage over his last four appearances. At this point, if Andersen can extend the series again, he should remain between the pipes heading into Game 6.
-
Brandon Bussi BOS G
Bruins' Brandon Bussi: Brought up from minors
27m agoBussi was recalled from AHL Providence on Monday.
Bussi posted a 23-10-5 record with a 2.67 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 41 minor-league appearances during the 2023-24 regular season. He also went 1-3 with a 2.14 GAA and a .922 save percentage during the AHL playoffs. The 25-year-old will be Boston's third netminder during the NHL postseason behind Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark.
-
Michael DiPietro BOS G
Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Reassigned to minors
28m agoDiPietro was sent down to AHL Providence on Monday.
DiPietro will switch places with Brandon Bussi, who was called up in a corresponding move. With Providence out of the Calder Cup playoffs, the move will effectively end DipIetro's 2023-24 campaign having logged 30 minor-league contests in which he went 18-9-2 with a 2.51 GAA and .918 save percentage.
-
Jayson Megna BOS C
Bruins' Jayson Megna: Summoned from AHL
32m agoMegna was recalled from AHL Providence on Monday.
Megna notched 19 goals and 56 points in 69 regular-season games for Providence in 2023-24. He also added two goals and one assist in four outings during the AHL playoffs. Megna probably won't see any game action during Boston's postseason run.
-
Patrick Brown BOS C
Bruins' Patrick Brown: Recalled from minors
32m agoBrown was elevated from AHL Providence on Monday.
Brown's promotion comes as AHL Providence was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs Friday. As such, there is no guarantee the veteran center will get ice time even with the injury to Brad Marchand (upper body). Still, Brown does have 149 games of NHL experience under his belt, which should improve his chances of getting into the lineup if needed.
-
Blake Wheeler NYR RW
Rangers' Blake Wheeler: Cleared for contact
44m agoWheeler (leg) has shed his non-contract jersey ahead of Game 5 against the Hurricanes on Monday, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Wheeler is practicing without the non-contact jersey for the first time, so it seems unlikely he will be available to play against Carolina on Monday immediately. Still, it's a positive sign for the veteran winger, who has been out of action since Feb. 15 versus the Canadiens. If Wheeler does get the all-clear, he figures to slot into a bottom-six role and could bump Jonny Brodsinski from the lineup.
