Bud Dupree ATL OLBChargers' Bud Dupree: Set to join Chargers
6h agoDupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dupree reportedly met with both the Falcons and Steelers recently in addition to the Chargers, and it appears that he'll end up with Los Angeles. The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

12h agoThe Panthers waived Parker with an undisclosed non-football injury Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The details and severity of Parker's injury are unknown, other than the fact that it did not occur on the football field. The cornerback will now be available to be claimed off waivers should any other teams show interest.

12h agoWilliams was waived/injured by the Panthers on Friday due to an undisclosed injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
No details have been released regarding more information on the severity of Williams' injury. He will presumably revert to Carolina's injured reserve assuming he clears waivers, which means his 2024 season will be done unless both parties can reach an injury settlement.

There is no word on the severity of Manning's injury. Assuming he clears waivers, the guard will subsequently revert to Carolina's injured reserve. From there, he would need to reach an injury settlement with the team at some point lest his 2024 season comes to a premature end.

Bradlee Anae NYJ DEFalcons' Bradlee Anae: Inks deal with Atlanta
15h agoAnae (undisclosed) has agreed to terms on a contract with the Falcons, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
This news comes less than 24 hours after Anae's tryout in Atlanta. His 2023 season came to an end early, as the Jets placed him on injured reserve nearly one year ago with an undisclosed injury presumably suffered during offseason workouts. The defensive end's addition to Atlanta's roster indicates his health is back up to par, so he will now compete for a role in the trenches.

1d agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

1h agoGrandal went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Cubs.
The veteran catcher took Keegan Thompson deep in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Pirates back on top for good after the Cubs had struck for seven runs in the top of the frame. It was Grandal's first homer and first RBI in five games since making his season debut May 4, and he's gone 4-for-17 over that stretch as he settles into the starting job for Pittsburgh.

1h agoBednar gave up a run on two hits in the ninth inning Saturday to record his seventh save of the season in a 10-9 win over the Cubs.
The right-hander made things interesting, giving up back-to-back hits to begin the ninth and allowing the tying run to get to third base with two outs, but Bednar escaped the jam. He's converted his last six save chances but has been very volatile while doing it, getting tagged for runs in five of 11 appearances over that stretch while posting an 8.38 ERA and 12:3 K:BB through 9.2 innings. Bednar still has a grip on the Pirates' closer role, but it may not be a firm one.

Paul Skenes PIT SPPirates' Paul Skenes: Fans seven in MLB debut
1h agoSkenes came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Cubs, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out seven.
The 21-year-old right-hander displayed some nerves in his big-league debut, throwing only 54 of 84 pitches for strikes, but he flashed his upside right out of the gate by hitting triple digits on the radar gun on his first two career pitches and reaching 100 mph on five fastballs in total against the first batter he faced, eventually striking out Chicago leadoff man Mike Tauchman on a 100.9 mph four-seamer. Skenes isn't heading back to the minors any time soon, and his next start should come on the road next week in a rematch with the Cubs.

1h agoNaylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the White Sox.
Naylor produced Cleveland's only run of the contest with a fourth-inning solo blast to left field. The first baseman has gone deep four times over his past seven games to push his season total to 11 long balls, tied for fourth-most in the majors. Naylor is also tied for seventh in the league with 30 RBI while slashing a solid .275/.358/.565 and registering an impressive 16:20 BB:K.

1h agoCrawford (oblique) put in a full pregame workout before the Mariners' series opener against the Athletics on Friday, making throws on ground balls and taking batting practice on the field, MLB.com reports.
Not only is the boost in activity level very encouraging, but Crawford confirmed after his workout that he's back to full strength. However, the veteran shortstop also conceded he needed to get his timing at the plate back, making it likely he goes on a rehab assignment of no more than two games before potentially being activated.

Justin Steele CHC SPCubs' Justin Steele: Can't keep ball in park Saturday
1h agoSteele escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Pirates, surrendering six runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over four innings. He struck out three.
Making just his third start of the season after missing all of April with a hamstring strain, Steele served up homers to Connor Joe and Oneil Cruz in the third inning and Michael Taylor in the fourth, but he got taken off the hook for the loss thanks to a seven-run fifth by the Cubs. Steele has yet to complete five innings in an outing and threw just 74 pitches (53 strikes) Saturday, but he should begin to get stretched out further as he puts the injury further behind him. Steele will take a 4.73 ERA and 11:4 K:BB through 13.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to be a rematch with the Pirates back in Wrigley Field next week.

4h agoHolmgren finished Saturday's 105-101 loss to Dallas in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 13 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, four blocks and one steal in 35 minutes.
Holmgren has struggled a bit against Dallas' defensive front through three games after averaging 15.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots over four games against the Pelicans. The Mavericks have been able to stay fresh in the paint with Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively platooning at the five, and Jaylin Williams hasn't offered the same kind of secondary support. Holmgren has also failed to keep Luka Doncic off the glass, and he'll need to improve in several areas to keep the Thunder in the series.

4h agoWilliams totaled 16 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, eight assists and one block across 38 minutes during Saturday's 105-101 loss to Dallas in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Although Williams headed to the locker room with an apparent ankle injury, he eventually returned to the court and finished as the team's second-highest scorer. Williams has been an invaluable piece of the Thunder's game plan on both sides of the ball, and his DFS salary has steadily risen throughout the playoffs. Josh Giddey's inconsistent play has forced Williams to produce with more frequency, and although Luguentz Dort has shown signs of life in the postseason, his defensive prowess doesn't always translate to favorable fantasy totals. Along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren, Williams will likely continue to be one of the team's best fantasy assets.

Gilgeous-Alexander continued his run of stellar production in the Game 3 loss. The All-Star averaged a stunning 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists over six playoff games heading into Saturday's contest, making him one of the league's most prolific postseason contributors. His most noticeable stat of the evening was a career-high five blocked shots. Prior to Saturday, the guard had recorded four swats three times in his pro career.

5h agoWashington contributed 27 points (11-23 FG, 5-12 3Pt), six rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes during Saturday's 105-101 win over the Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Washington enjoyed another splendid shooting night beyond the arc after draining seven shots from downtown in Game 2. The 23 shot attempts matched a season high for Washington, who is averaging 13.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in the playoffs. He's also converting 52.9 percent of his shots during the postseason.

5h agoDoncic totaled 22 points (7-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-10 FT), 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals across 40 minutes during Saturday's 105-101 victory over the Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Doncic sealed the Game 3 win by winning a jump ball in the closing seconds and grabbing the loose ball before the buzzer. While Doncic's inspired play was a clear difference-maker in the victory, he left the court favoring his left ankle. His injury struggles were noticeable throughout the game, as his ankle and lingering knee issue limited his speed in transition. Still, Doncic played through the pain and delivered his best rebound total of the postseason. Although Doncic may find himself on the injury report for Monday evening's rematch, he'll carry a full load if his body can take the beating.

After a season-low nine points in Game 2, Irving came back with a diverse stat line, helping the Mavericks go up in the series. Irving complemented teammate Luka Doncic with a series of key plays in the closing minutes, draining all four of his shots in the final stanza. Irving led the team with seven assists, which marked the fourth time the All-Star exceeded his season average in that category during the playoffs.

Schneider snapped his eight-game point drought with the primary helper on Barclay Goodrow's tally in the second period. Through eight playoff contests, Schneider has eight shots on net, 14 hits, 14 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a plus-2 rating. The 22-year-old defenseman remains in a bottom-four role, and after logging 19 points, 167 hits and 133 blocks in 82 regular-season outings, his contributions are likely to remain limited to physical play.

Gustafsson snapped a five-game point drought when he helped out on a Will Cuylle goal in the first period. Through eight playoff contests, Gustafsson has three assists, six shots on net, 16 hits, five blocked shots and a minus-1 rating. He remains in a third-pairing role, so a large uptick in offense is unlikely to happen for the 32-year-old.

Trouba helped out on an Alexis Lafreniere tally in the third period. Offense hasn't been a strong suit for Trouba in the playoffs -- he's earned three assists to go with 33 hits, 41 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a plus-1 rating over eight contests. The 30-year-old defenseman was a little shaky in his own zone Saturday, but he continues to fill a veteran role on the Rangers' blue line.

Zibanejad fed Alexis Lafreniere for a game-tying goal in the third period. The helper extended Zibanejad's point streak to 14 games, during which he has accumulated five goals and 16 helpers. That includes three goals, 10 assists, 22 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over eight playoff contests. The 31-year-old center continues to pile up offense while seeing a top-line role.

Cuylle snapped a 12-game point drought with his first-period tally, which was also his first career playoff goal and point. The 22-year-old was a key part of the Rangers' depth in the regular season with 21 points, 119 shots on net and 249 hits, but he's been less effective despite a similar role in the postseason. The rookie winger has added 12 shots on net, 24 hits and a plus-2 rating through eight playoff contests.

Goodrow netted a second-period goal to snap a four-game point drought. The 31-year-old forward has two goals, two assists, eight shots on net, 17 hits, 16 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-1 rating through eight playoff contests. There's not much glory in his fourth-line role, but Goodrow is a two-time champion who brings veteran reliability to the Rangers' lineup.
