Gerrid Doaks HOU RBGerrid Doaks: Cut by Houston
5h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

As a senior at Florida Atlantic, Burton hauled in 24 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Miami's wide receiver depth chart will be tough to crack for any undrafted rookie ahead of 2024.

6h agoThe Panthers waived Camp on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Camp did not see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at wide receiver in the draft, it opted to cut him. He'll now have to search for another chance with a different franchise.

6h agoCarolina waived Pierce on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Pierce agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Panthers back in January, but they decided to let him go after adding talent at tight end in the draft. He'll now look for another chance with a new team.

7h agoThe Panthers waived Brown (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown didn't see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at running back in the draft, it has now decided to cut him loose. He'll revert to injured reserve assuming he clears waivers.

Deon Jackson NYG RBGiants' Deon Jackson: Done with Giants
7h agoThe Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. If he clears waivers, he'll reverted to injured reserve.

Taj Bradley TB SPRays' Taj Bradley: Sharp in season debut
5m agoBradley (0-1) took the loss Friday against the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.
Bradley was excellent in his first start since suffering a pectoral strain in spring training, holding the Yankees to a lone run on an Anthony Rizzo two-out RBI single in the fourth. However, the right-hander was stuck with the loss as the Rays failed to get anything going offensively in the 2-0 defeat. Bradley made 21 starts for Tampa Bay last year, going 5-8 with a 5.59 ERA. He's currently slated to face the Red Sox on the road in his next outing.

Carlos Carrasco CLE SPGuardians' Carlos Carrasco: Stumbles in loss
9m agoCarrasco (2-3) yielded five runs (three earned) on six hits over seven innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against the White Sox.
Carrasco held the White Sox off the board until they scored three runs in the fifth inning, though two of those were unearned. He then served up back-to-back solo homers to Korey Lee and Paul DeJong in the seventh. Carrasco didn't allow a home run through his first four starts but has now been taken deep seven times in his last four outings. He's sporting a 5.36 ERA with a 31:17 K:BB through 40.1 innings this season. Carrasco's next start is lined up to be in Texas next week.

13m agoAssad didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
After the Pirates scored twice in the first inning, Assad delivered 3.1 scoreless frames before he was ultimately pulled in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old Assad hasn't allowed more than one earned run in five straight starts -- he's 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 42.1 innings this season. The Mexican-born right-hander is currently slated for a road matchup with Atlanta in his next outing.

Willy Adames MIL SSBrewers' Willy Adames: Laces three doubles
17m agoAdames went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's victory over St. Louis.
Adames managed to collect all three of his doubles from different Cardinals pitchers, hitting one each off Lance Lynn, Matthew Liberatore and Kyle Leahy. With his effort Friday night, the Brewers shortstop reached double-digit two-baggers, sporting 10 doubles on the season. Overall, Adames is hitting .265/.351/.476 with seven home runs, 23 runs scored and 27 RBI over 168 plate appearances.

19m agoContreras went 1-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored in Friday's win over the Cardinals.
Contreras was the offensive catalyst for the Brewers on Friday night as he crossed the plate a team-high three times. He also collected his third multi-walk game of the season, which may become a more common occurrence given his breakout season. The 26-year-old catcher is slashing .340/.420/.520 with five homers, 30 RBI and 35 runs scored over 174 plate appearances.

Lance Lynn STL SPCardinals' Lance Lynn: Yields five runs in loss
22m agoLynn (1-1) took the loss Friday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against Milwaukee. He had five strikeouts.
Lynn cruised through the Brewers order once -- going nine up, nine down in his first three innings. However, the wheels fell off in the fifth inning as the 36-year-old labored through two outs before receiving the hook. Matthew Liberatore provided no help as he allowed both inherited runners from Lynn to score. Lynn has struggled over his past four starts, pitching to the tune of a 5.49 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 19:11 K:BB over 19.2 innings. He looks to bounce back in his next start on the road against the Angels.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
2m agoTowns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time of the postseason, having scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns will have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

Anthony Edwards MIN SGTimberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Nears 20 points as top scorer
3m agoEdwards recorded 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), six rebounds, five assists and one block over 37 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards did all he could to help Minnesota climb back into Friday's contest, leading all Timberwolves players in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and handful of assists in a balanced outing. Edwards tallied his lowest point total of the conference semifinals, taking a bit of a step back after a pair of impressive performances in Denver earlier in the series. Look for Edwards to step up and lead Minnesota in Game 4 as it attempts to make a statement at home and take a 3-1 lead over Denver.

Rudy Gobert MIN CTimberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Quiet outing return in Game 3
3m agoGobert tallied six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 27 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gobert returned in Game 3 after missing the previous contest due to the birth of his child, putting forth a quiet outing in Minnesota's first loss of the postseason. Gobert failed to reach double figures in both points and rebounds, not tallying 10 or more boards for the third time of the postseason while not crossing the double-digit scoring mark for the third time. In order for Minnesota to bounce back in Sunday's Game 4, Gobert will have to put together a much stronger showing than he did Friday in Minneapolis.

Jackson will be available to provide depth at point guard. Starter Jamal Murray (calf), who was also questionable, is going to play through it. Thus, Jackson figures to take on his usual depth role.

Caldwell-Pope walked away from Game 2 with a mild abdomen injury, but he'll power through it in Game 3 with no word of any restrictions. Jamal Murray (calf) and Reggie Jackson (calf) will also play through their questionable tags.

7m agoLohrei registered an even-strength assist in Friday's 6-2 loss to Florida.
Lohrei had the primary helper on a Jake DeBrusk goal in the third period that cut Florida's lead to two. The 23-year-old Louisiana native also added one shot, one hit and one block in 20:13 of ice time. The young blueliner is making a name for himself this postseason, as Lohrei is up to one goal and three assists in eight games to go along with a plus-2 rating. Lohrei's next chance to help Boston's offensive production will come Sunday in Game 4.

Jake DeBrusk BOS LWBruins' Jake DeBrusk: Goal and assist in loss
34m agoDeBrusk scored a goal and added a helper in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers.
DeBrusk helped out on a Jakub Lauko tally before adding a goal of his own in the third period. DeBrusk's contributions helped give the Bruins and their fans life by cutting the lead to two, but it wasn't enough to overcome the four-goal deficit against Florida. The 27-year-old also added one shot on net, one block and six hits in 17:50 of ice time. DeBrusk is up to four goals and two assists in nine games so far this postseason.

Sam Bennett FLA CPanthers' Sam Bennett: Assist in return to lineup
45m agoBennett (upper body) produced a primary assist in his return to the lineup in Friday's 6-2 win over Boston.
Bennett's return to the lineup paid immediate dividends for the Panthers, as the second-line center registered an assist on Vladimir Tarasenko's goal late in the second period. The 27-year-old also threw 7 hits in 12:43 of ice time. Bennett's ice time will presumably increase in the coming games as he readjusts to the pace of playoff hockey. Overall this postseason, Bennett has one goal and two assists in three games.

Evan Rodrigues FLA CPanthers' Evan Rodrigues: Two goals in win
1h agoRodrigues potted two goals in Friday's 6-2 road victory over Boston.
Rodrigues opened the scoring in Game 3 with an even-strength goal that came right after a Florida power-play had ended. He also ended the scoring with a goal in the final minute of the third period. Rodrigues is the perfect example of a depth player that Florida will need to keep contributing if they want to go on a deep Stanley Cup run. Rodrigues has three goals and an assist in eight games so far this postseason.

Brandon Montour FLA DPanthers' Brandon Montour: Two more points in win
1h agoMontour registered a goal and an assist in Friday's 6-2 road victory over the Bruins.
Montour is on a heater right now, as he's racked up five points (two goals) over the last two games. He scored on the power-play early in the third period to put the Panthers up by four, before adding an assist on Sam Reinhart's empty-net tally. Overall this postseason, Montour has three goals and five assists in eight games. The pending unrestricted free agent will look to keep it rolling in Game 4.

Jeremy Swayman BOS GBruins' Jeremy Swayman: Loss in Game 3
1h agoSwayman made 27 saves on 32 shots in Friday's 6-2 home loss to the Panthers.
It was a tough outing for Swayman in Game 3, as the Bruins were heavily outplayed by the Panthers. There wasn't much help in front of the Bruins netminder, as Florida almost doubled up Boston in shots on goal. Swayman has now allowed nine goals in his last two outings combined, so it's possible the Bruins turn to Linus Ullmark in net for Game 4. Overall this postseason, Swayman is 5-4 with a 2.19 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
