Jase McClellan ATL RB
Falcons' Jase McClellan: Still dealing with foot issue
31m agoCoach Raheem Morris said Tuesday McClellan (foot) will sit out practice due to injury, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Morris said McClellan and Bijan Robinson (ankle), who is also tending to an injury, are both expected to be available for mandatory minicamp, as D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. It appears that the rookie sixth-round pick is still nursing the foot injury that kept him from working out at either the NFL Combine or Alabama's Pro Day, but the Falcons appear to expect him to be ready for practice sooner rather than later. McClellan will need all the reps he can get for any chance of carving out a notable role behind both Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.

Bills' Chase Claypool: New competition in WR room
32m agoClaypool will have more competition to land a roster spot after the Bills signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year deal Tuesday.
The Bills seem to be taking an approach of signing as many journeymen that have previously shown upside as they can this offseason, with a plan of seeing who can stick to join a room with highly touted rookie Keon Coleman and third-year man Khalil Shakir. For now, it looks like MVS, Claypool, Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins (among others) will duke it out for positioning and even a roster spot after holding a firmer grasp on jobs earlier in their careers.

Bijan Robinson ATL RB
Falcons' Bijan Robinson: Tending to ankle injury
37m agoCoach Raheem Morris said Robinson will not participate in Tuesday's OTA practice due to an ankle injury, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Morris said that Robinson is expected to be on the field for Atlanta's mandatory minicamp, as is rookie Jase McClellan (foot), who is also currently sidelined. The insinuation that Robinson's injury is only a minor issue is a relief, but the situation will still warrant monitoring until such time as the star running back is officially back on the field. Robinson could be primed for a Year 2 breakout with the arrival of Kirk Cousins (Achilles) promising an improved Falcons offense, but for the rest of OTAs, Tyler Allgeier could get a chance to handle the top backfield reps.

Jake Fromm WAS QB
Jake Fromm: Let go by Washington
1h agoThe Commanders released Fromm on Tuesday.
Fromm spent the entire 2023 season on Washington's practice squad, but he'll now need to search for a chance to compete elsewhere. The 2020 fifth-round pick hasn't played snaps on an NFL field since 2021.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling KC WR
Bills' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Gets one-year deal in Buffalo
2h agoThe Bills are slated to sign Valdes-Scantling to a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Valdes-Scantling was released by the Chiefs back in February, and he now lands with another AFC powerhouse. Buffalo's revamped wide receiver corps, which lost Stefon Diggs via trade and Gabe Davis to free agency, could use a deep threat to complement Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel and rookie second-round pick Keon Coleman. Working as the No. 4 man on the depth chart could be an ideal situation for Valdes-Scantling to contribute, though if utilized only as a situation downfield target, he's more likely to slightly raise Josh Allen's ceiling than carry standalone value. Across 16 regular-season games last year, the 29-year-old compiled a career-low 21-315-1 receiving line.

Ilm Manning 2005 OL
Panthers' Ilm Manning: Reverts to injured reserve
17h agoManning (undisclosed) cleared waivers and reverted to the Panthers' injured reserve list Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The severity of Manning's injury is not yet known. The offensive guard will need to reach an injury settlement with the team to potentially play in 2024.

Seth Brown OAK LF
Athletics' Seth Brown: Records second steal Monday
14m agoBrown went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in a loss to the Astros on Monday.
Brown rapped out a single for the third time in the last four games, while the steal was his second of the season. The 31-year-old's power drought is increasingly concerning, however, considering he has just six extra-base hits in 113 plate appearances after averaging one every 10.2 trips to the batter's box over the previous three seasons.
-
Jackson Merrill SD CF
Padres' Jackson Merrill: Swats third homer
15m agoMerrill went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's loss to Colorado.
Merrill was the only Padre with multiple hits in the contest, and his seventh-inning solo shot brought the team to within one run, though it turned out to be the final tally of the game. The rookie has notched consecutive multi-hit performances and has multiple hits in four of his past eight contests overall, so he could be back on the rise following an eight-game stretch from late April to early May during which he went 1-for-23 at the plate. Merrill still has a strong .291/.342/.403 slash line along with three homers, 17 RBI, 18 runs and six stolen bases on the season.

Luis Rengifo LAA 2B
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Could return Friday
20m agoRengifo (illness) fielded grounders Monday and could return from the injured list when eligible Friday, per MLB.com.
Rengifo came down with a viral infection in early May and landed on the IL when the illness caused painful blisters on his feet. His ability to take grounders Monday is a good indication that he's doing better, and there's a chance he could spend the minimum amount of time on the injured list. Upon his return, Rengifo should slide back into a starting role at third base -- Niko Goodrum, Luis Guillorme and Cole Tucker have been filling in at the hot corner in his stead.
-
J.J. Bleday OAK CF
Athletics' JJ Bleday: More timely hitting Monday
20m agoBleday went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Astros on Monday. He was also caught stealing on his one attempt.
Bleday plated the Athletics' second and final run of the night with his fifth-inning two-bagger, driving in Abraham Toro. The lefty-swinging slugger has been mostly clicking at the plate in May, producing a .286/.400/.524 slash line with a 15.7 percent walk rate, six extra-base hits and nine RBI over 51 plate appearances.
-
Tyler Soderstrom OAK 1B
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Hot hitting continues Monday
24m agoSoderstrom went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a double in a loss to the Astros on Monday.
Soderstrom delivered half the offense for the Athletics on the night with his fourth-inning knock, which plated Brent Rooker. The 22-year-old extended the red-hot start to his first big-league stint of 2024 with his multi-hit effort, as he's now reached safely in all four games he's appeared in and now has doubles in back-to-back contests.

Chas McCormick HOU LF
Astros' Chas McCormick: Playing outfield in rehab games
1h agoMcCormick (hamstring) is scheduled to play in the outfield for the next two games with Double-A Corpus Christi, MLB.com reports.
McCormick served as the designated hitter with Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday in his first rehab appearance, and he'll now progress to playing full games in the outfield. Assuming that goes well, there's a strong chance he'll be activated for the Astros' weekend series against Milwaukee.

Kyrie Irving DAL PG
Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Another dreadful showing
2h agoIrving posted nine points (4-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and nine assists in 41 minutes during Monday's 100-96 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Mavericks have welcomed the emergence of P.J. Washington in the series against the Thunder, as Kyrie Irving has struggled badly so far. He's now failed to score in double digits in two of the four games of the series and is shooting a mere 35.7 percent from three-point range. Irving needs to take on a bigger role on offense if the Mavericks want to move to the Western Conference Finals, especially considering how banged up Luka Doncic is.
-
Luka Doncic DAL PG
Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Posts triple-double Monday
2h agoDoncic provided 18 points (6-20 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 12 rebounds, 10 assists, one block and two steals over 42 minutes during Monday's 100-96 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
On the surface, Doncic's final stat line looks good, as he posted his second triple-double of the postseason and made his presence felt on the defensive end. However, the star guard is battling with several injuries, and he looked a step slow in some sequences, as well as being extremely inefficient with his shot. Doncic is averaging 22.0 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game in the series against the Thunder, and the decrease in the scoring column is directly tied to the fact he's shooting a mere 39 percent from the floor. He'll aim to bounce back in Game 5 on Wednesday.

PJ Washington DAL PF
Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Keeps scoring run alive
2h agoWashington accumulated 21 points (7-19 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds and one block over 41 minutes during Monday's 100-96 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Mavericks failed to protect their home court and had to settle for a tough loss in Game 4, but one of the few positives in Monday's loss was that Washington continues to perform well even when he commands more attention from the opposing defenses. Washington has been Dallas' second-best player in this series, reaching the 20-point mark in three straight appearances and recording two double-doubles. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
-
Chet Holmgren OKC C
Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Nears double-double with four swats
2h agoHolmgren ended Monday's 100-96 win over Dallas in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 18 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds, four blocks and one steal over 40 minutes.
Holmgren stepped his game up on a night where Jalen Williams struggled with his shot, and the star rookie made his presence felt on both ends of the court, showing efficiency in his touch near the rim and being his usual disruptive self on the defensive end. Holmgren is averaging 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.3 blocks per game in the series against Dallas. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday in OKC.
-
Jalen Williams OKC SF
Thunder's Jalen Williams: Struggles from field in Game 4
2h agoWilliams totaled 14 points (5-19 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and four steals across 41 minutes during Monday's 100-96 win over the Mavericks in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Williams didn't have his best shooting performance, and his numbers regressed a bit compared to what he'd been doing in the previous contests, but his role as the Thunder's second-best offensive weapon is firmly established ahead of Chet Holmgren, which should give him an excellent floor in most DFS slates. Williams is averaging 19.1 points per game in eight playoff contests thus far, but it's worth noting this was his lowest-scoring performance of the postseason.
-
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OKC SG
Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Shines in Game 4 victory
2h agoGilgeous-Alexander totaled 34 points (14-27 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in 42 minutes during Monday's 100-96 victory over the Mavericks in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Despite dealing with one of the best backcourt combos in the NBA in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, Gilgeous-Alexander continues to deliver outstanding numbers every time he steps on the hardwood. He surpassed the 30-point threshold in just one of the four games in the opening-round series against the Pelicans, but he's been asked to do more this time around, and he's now on a run of three straight outings with 30-plus points. He's averaging 31.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in the series against Dallas, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday at Paycom Center.
-
Vincent Trocheck NYR C
Rangers' Vincent Trocheck: Held off scoresheet in loss
8m agoTrocheck failed to register a point in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 5.
After starting the postseason with at least one point in seven consecutive contests, Trocheck has now been held without a point in back-to-back games. The 30-year-old forward did have three shots on net, one blocked shot and six hits in 21:58 of ice time. That amount of ice time was the most of any skater in the contest. This shows the level of trust New York head coach Peter Laviolette has in his second-line center playing in all situations. Trocheck is up to five goals and seven assists with a minus-1 rating in nine games so far this postseason.
-
Jacob Trouba NYR D
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Shorthanded goal in loss
23m agoTrouba scored a shorthanded goal in Monday's 4-1 loss to Carolina in Game 5.
Trouba opened the scoring in the second period by firing a wrist shot past Carolina's Frederik Andersen but that was it for New York's offensive output in the tilt. It was Trouba's first goal of the postseason. The 30-year-old defenseman also had two shots on goal, three hits and four blocked shots in 18:38 of ice time. Trouba has four points (one goal) and a plus-1 rating in nine outings during the postseason.
-
Evgeny Kuznetsov CAR C
Hurricanes' Evgeny Kuznetsov: Scores game-winning goal
35m agoKuznetsov potted the game-winning goal in Monday's 4-1 win over New York in Game 5.
After being a healthy scratch in Game 2 of this series, Kuznetsov has now scored in consecutive contests to help keep Carolina's season alive. The 31-year-old forward drove to the net and buried a rebound off of a shot from Brady Skjei. It was Kuznetsov's fourth goal and sixth point of the postseason in nine contests. Kuznetsov and the Hurricanes will be at home Thursday night for Game 6 against the Rangers in another potential elimination game.
-
Martin Necas CAR C
Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Goal and assist in win
1h agoNecas scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's 4-1 over the Rangers in Game 5.
Necas had a secondary helper on Jordan Martinook's third-period tally before scoring an empty-net goal in Monday's win. It's the first time since Game 1 of Carolina's first-round series against the Islanders that Necas registered two points in a game. The 25-year-old forward also had two shots on goal to go along with a plus-2 rating in 15:56 of ice time. Necas is up to three goals and five assists in 10 contests so far this postseason.
-
Sergei Bobrovsky FLA G
Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Starting in Game 5
1h agoBobrovsky will patrol the home crease in Game 5 versus the Bruins on Tuesday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Bobrovsky hasn't been at his best versus the Bruins, posting an .885 save percentage through the first four games of the series, but he's still gone 3-1 over that stretch thanks to fantastic goal support from his teammates. He'll attempt to secure a fourth straight win over Boston and punch Florida's ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals on home ice Tuesday.
-
Jack Drury CAR C
Hurricanes' Jack Drury: Two assists in win
1h agoDrury registered two even-strength assists in Monday's 4-1 win over the Rangers in Game 5.
Drury had the primary helper on Jordan Martinook's third-period tally that put Carolina up by two. Drury also added a secondary helper on Martin Necas' empty-net goal that sealed the win for the Hurricanes. It was the first two points of the series for Drury and also his first multi-point outing of the postseason. In addition, the 24-year-old had three shots, two blocks, two hits and a plus-2 rating in 10:28 of ice time. Drury is up to one goal and four assists with a plus-6 rating in 10 contests so far this postseason.
