Gerrid Doaks HOU RBGerrid Doaks: Cut by Houston
8h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

As a senior at Florida Atlantic, Burton hauled in 24 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Miami's wide receiver depth chart will be tough to crack for any undrafted rookie ahead of 2024.

Camp did not see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at wide receiver in the draft, it opted to cut him. He'll now have to search for another chance with a different franchise.

9h agoCarolina waived Pierce on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Pierce agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Panthers back in January, but they decided to let him go after adding talent at tight end in the draft. He'll now look for another chance with a new team.

9h agoThe Panthers waived Brown (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown didn't see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at running back in the draft, it has now decided to cut him loose. He'll revert to injured reserve assuming he clears waivers.

Deon Jackson NYG RBGiants' Deon Jackson: Done with Giants
9h agoThe Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. If he clears waivers, he'll reverted to injured reserve.

15m agoAbreu threw a scoreless eighth inning while allowing one hit and striking out three to record a hold Friday against the Tigers.
Ryan Pressly (back) hasn't pitched since May 3, leaving Abreu as Houston's primary setup man. He blew the lead in his first opportunity in the role Sunday, but he performed well in Friday's appearance to tally his sixth hold of the season. Since allowing six earned runs across his first 5.2 innings of the campaign, Abreu has allowed only five earned runs across his last 15.2 frames.

MJ Melendez KC LFRoyals' MJ Melendez: Racks up three hits in win
40m agoMelendez went 3-for-4 with a triple in Friday's 2-1 win over the Angels.
Melendez hasn't been able to string good games together, but he's 7-for-24 (.292) over eight games in May. The outfielder was able to get aboard in the ninth inning before Garrett Hampson entered as a pinch runner and scored on Adam Frazier's home run. Melendez is up to a .202/.260/.395 slash line with four homers, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored, six doubles, two triples and two stolen bases through 123 plate appearances. Melendez continues to be an anchor for batting average in fantasy, but he's still got intriguing power in formats where he's still catcher-eligible despite not playing behind the dish this season.

1h agoFrazier went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 2-1 win over the Angels.
Frazier put the Royals ahead with his ninth-inning blast. The second baseman has gone 3-for-7 over his last two games after enduring an 0-for-15 skid over his previous six contests. Frazier's playing time has been irregular since he lost the starting job at the keystone to Michael Massey, but he's been able to draw in with time in the corner outfield and at designated hitter. Frazier's at a .188/.309/.250 slash line with one homer, eight RBI, eight runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles through 94 plate appearances this season, so his lack of an everyday role shouldn't come as a surprise.

Tyler Duffey KC RPRoyals' Tyler Duffey: Snags first win
1h agoDuffey (1-0) pitched a perfect inning and earned the win over the Angels on Friday.
The Royals saved their offense for late, and Duffey ended up benefiting from it after keeping the deficit to one run in the eighth inning. He's kept runs off the board in four of his six major-league appearances this season. The right-hander has a 4.05 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB over 6.2 innings while adding one hold, though he's primarily served as a low-leverage option.

1h agoWinn went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers.
Winn appears to be finding his swing again -- he's gone 4-for-14 (.286) over his last five contests. He's still gone 20 games without a multi-hit effort after having seven of them in his first 15 contests this season. The shortstop is 6-for-7 on stolen base attempts and is batting .267 with a .683 OPS through 120 plate appearances on the year.

Nolan Gorman STL 2BCardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers off bench Friday
1h agoGorman hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers.
Gorman entered the game as a defensive replacement after the Brewers turned it into a rout. Gorman's ninth-inning blasted ended his 0-for-14 skid that spanned all of May prior to Friday. The second baseman is slashing a meager .179/.262/.350 with five homers, 13 RBI, nine runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 130 plate appearances. Gorman began the year in a near-everyday role at the keystone, but he's now sat out against the last three southpaws the Cardinals have faced, with Jose Fermin picking up the playing time. Gorman had reverse splits last season and that has carried over into 2024, but he's simply not hitting well enough overall to justify a full-time role at this point of the season.

2h agoPorter ended with 21 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 30 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter provided a nice lift offensively for Denver in its first win of the conference semifinals, leading all Nuggets in threes made while ending as one of three players with 20 or more points in Game 3. Porter had a bounce-back performance after failing to reach double figures in scoring in Game 2, now posting 20 or more points in two of the three games against Minnesota.

Nikola Jokic DEN CNuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nears triple-double in Game 3 win
2h agoJokic notched 24 points (10-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 14 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic did a little bit of everything for Denver in a much-needed Game 3 win on the road, leading all players in Friday's contest in rebounds, assists and blocks while adding a team-high-tying trio of steals and concluding as one of three Nuggets with 20 or more points. Jokic, who ended one dime shy of a triple-double, tallied his second straight double-double while posting at least 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in every game of the conference semifinals thus far. Jokic looked much more comfortable in Game 3 than we saw earlier in the series, which could be great news for Denver as it tries to even the series.

2h agoMurray finished with 24 points (11-21 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five assist, four rebounds and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray came out of the gates with a sense of urgency and a prove-it mentality in Friday's much-needed with for Denver, posting a team-high-tying scoring total and leading all players in the contest in shots made while tallying a team-high-tying pair of steals in a balanced outing. Murray, who notched his only single-digit game of the postseason in Game 2, bounced back with a big performance for the Nuggets in order to get back into the series against the Timberwolves. Murray has surpassed the 20-point mark in six of his eight playoff contests thus far.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
2h agoTowns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time of the postseason, having scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns will have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

Anthony Edwards MIN SGTimberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Nears 20 points as top scorer
2h agoEdwards recorded 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), six rebounds, five assists and one block over 37 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards did all he could to help Minnesota climb back into Friday's contest, leading all Timberwolves players in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and handful of assists in a balanced outing. Edwards tallied his lowest point total of the conference semifinals, taking a bit of a step back after a pair of impressive performances in Denver earlier in the series. Look for Edwards to step up and lead Minnesota in Game 4 as it attempts to make a statement at home and take a 3-1 lead over Denver.

Rudy Gobert MIN CTimberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Quiet outing return in Game 3
2h agoGobert tallied six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 27 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gobert returned in Game 3 after missing the previous contest due to the birth of his child, putting forth a quiet outing in Minnesota's first loss of the postseason. Gobert failed to reach double figures in both points and rebounds, not tallying 10 or more boards for the third time of the postseason while not crossing the double-digit scoring mark for the third time. In order for Minnesota to bounce back in Sunday's Game 4, Gobert will have to put together a much stronger showing than he did Friday in Minneapolis.

Elias Pettersson VAN CCanucks' Elias Pettersson: Finds twine in loss
1m agoPettersson scored a power-play goal on two shots and added two hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Pettersson opened the scoring at 4:14 of the first period. The tally was his first since April 10, and he managed just four helpers and 13 shots on net over the 10 contests between goals. Pettersson is at four points, 13 shots on net and 16 hits through eight postseason appearances, which is not great production from a top-six center who posted 34 goals and 89 points in the regular season.

Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Gives up four goals in loss
4m agoSilovs allowed four goals on 31 shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Silovs has given up four goals in each of the first two games of the second round, on a total of 49 shots. The 23-year-old is getting a first-hand taste of the power of the Oilers' offense, and it's unclear how much longer head coach Rick Tocchet will stick with Silovs. Casey DeSmith is healthy enough to play, while Thatcher Demko (knee) could be back later in the series. Game 3 is Sunday in Edmonton.

9m agoNugent-Hopkins posted a power-play assist, three shots on goal and four PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks in Game 2.
Nugent-Hopkins has eight helpers over his last five games, but he hasn't scored a goal since the postseason opener. The 31-year-old centered the second line Friday with Leon Draisaitl moving up to play alongside Connor McDavid. Nugent-Hopkins has experience as a center, but it's better for his overall game when he's playing alongside McDavid or Draisaitl. Nugent-Hopkins is up to nine points, 10 shots on net, 12 hits and an even plus-minus rating through seven playoff outings.

Zach Hyman EDM COilers' Zach Hyman: Adds helper in win
12m agoHyman logged an assist, four shots on goal, two hits, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks in Game 2.
Hyman helped out on Connor McDavid's equalizer in the third period. The 31-year-old Hyman has been held off the scoresheet just once in seven playoff outings, earning nine goals, two assists 28 shots on net, 23 hits and a plus-5 rating. He was overshadowed a bit with McDavid and Leon Draisaitl joining forces on the top line, but Hyman has had no trouble carving out offense regardless of who is on McDavid's opposite wing this season.

Mattias Ekholm EDM DOilers' Mattias Ekholm: Tallies in Game 2
14m agoEkholm scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks in Game 2.
Ekholm was limited to one assist over five first-round games versus the Kings, but he's now scored a goal in each of the first two contest in the second round. The 33-year-old defenseman doesn't have to put up offense to be useful, but it doesn't hurt. He's contributed 12 shots on net, 12 blocked shots, nine hits and a plus-4 rating in addition to three points through seven playoff outings. Ekholm should continue to see heavy defensive minutes in a top-pairing role.

Bouchard tallied at 5:38 of the extra session to give the Oilers the win after they never led in regulation. The defenseman continues to excel in the postseason with two goals and nine assists through seven appearances. He's added 24 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating while playing on the top pairing.
